BSc Botany Subsidiary 1st Year का Syllabus नेचे लिखा हुआ है।BSc Botany Subsidiary Paper has two Parts first part is Theory Paper-1 of 75 Marks and Subsidiary Paper-1 of 25 Marks. That means there are total 100 Marks Obtained in 1st Year.
BRABU BSc Botany Subsidiary Syllabus:
Subsidiary Paper-I
Each Year: There shall be one paper consisting of theory of 75 marks and practical carrying 25 marks, each of three hours duration.
(Microbiology, Thallophyta, Bryohyta, Pteridophyta, Gymnosperms, Cytology & Genetics and Economic Botany)
Microbiology
- A general account of bacteria, viruses and their economic importance.
- Role of microbes in fermentation and nitrogen fixation.
Thallophyta, Bryohyta, Pteridophyta, Gymnosperms
Structure, reproduction and diagnostic features of algae, fungi a lichens based on types wherever mentioned. The development cycles on comparative basis should reflect evolutionary sequence. The students should be acquainted with economic importance of these groups.
- Algae: Nostoc, Chlamydomonas, Volvox. Oedogonium, Chara, Vaucheria, Focus and Batrachospermum.
- Fungi: Synchytrium, Saprolegnia, Phytophtora, Erysiphe, Beziza and Puccinia.
- Lichens: General Account.
Comparative study of morphological, anatomical and reproductive features and economic importance of
- Bryophyta-Marchantia, Anthoceros and Sphagnum.
- Pteridophyta-Rhynia, Lycopodium, Selaginella, Equisetum and Marsilea.
- Gymnosperm-Cycas and Pinus.
Cytology and Genetics
- Ultrastructure of a plant cell.
- Mitosis: Cell-cycle and Meiosis.
- Structure of Chromosome, Linkage & Crossing over.
- Mendelism: Dihybrid ratio.
- Structure and replication of genetic material (DNA)
- Mutation and its role.
Economic Botany
- Cereals-Wheat,Maize and Rice.
- Pulses-Gram and Arhar.
- Oils-Mustard and Groundnut.
- Sugar and Starch-sugarcane and Potato.
- Spices-Coriander,Cardamom and Cloves.
- Beverages-Tea and Coffee
- Drugs-cinchona and Syrpagandha
- Fibers-Cotton and flax.
