BSc Zoology Subsidiary or General Paper has two Parts first part is Theory Paper-2 of 75 Marks and Subsidiary Paper-2 of 25 Marks. That means there are total 100 Marks Obtained in 2nd Year.

Subsidiary / General Paper-II
Five questions are to be set from each group. Student shall answer five questions attempting not more than three from any group.
Group: A (Chordate)
Bionomics: General characters and classification (up to order) of living chordates of the following groups:
Protochordates, Cyclostomata, Pisces, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves, and Mammalia.
Study of the following types
- Urochordata-Herdmania (including retrogressive metamorphosis)
- Cephalochordata- Amphioxux
- Fishes-Scoliodon Type study: Differences with that of a bony fish
- Reptilia- Biting and feeding mechanisms of snakes
- Aves- Columba: Flight adaptation, elementary idea of bird migration and sanctuaries if India
- Mammals- Characters, distribution and affinities of Prototheria and Metatheria
Group-B (Embryology, Biochemistry, Physiology and Endocrinology)
Embryology
- Types of vertebrate eggs and their early cleavage,
- Development of the Amphioxus (Up to the formation of Coelom) and chick (Up to three germ layers)
- Placenta in mammals- Their development, types and functions
Biochemistry, Physiology and Endocrinology
- Structure and classification of protein, carbohydrates and fats
- Physiology of Digestion, Excretion and Respiration in mammals
- Histology of the following Endocrine glands in mammals: Islet of Langerhans, Testis, Ovary, Thyroid, Adrenal and Pituitary

Dissection (7 Marks)
- Scoliodon- Afferent and efferent branchial arteries, Cranial Nerves (IV, VII, IX & X), Internal ear, Eye muscles & their nerve supply, Urinogenital system.\
- Columba- Flight muscle, arterial and venous system
Mounting (Permanent stained preparation) 4 Marks
Scales of fishes, Pacten & Filoplume feathers of birds, Ampulla of Lorenzini
Spotting (6 Marks)
Museum specimen-1, Bones- 3 (Limb, Girdle, Skull, Vertebrae of Varanus and Fowl)
Endocrinology and Embryology (2X2= 4 Marks)
Identification of permanent slides of the varios developmental stages of Frog and Chick.
Record and field work -4 Marks
